Bangladesh Cricket Board removes Mohammad Ashraful as batting coach

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has removed Mohammad Ashraful from his position as the national team’s batting coach. The decision follows a series of disappointing performances by the Bangladesh men’s cricket team, including consecutive losses to Zimbabwe and Afghanistan during a recent ODI tri-series in the United Arab Emirates.

Mohammad Salahuddin, the head coach of the BCB’s High Performance department, will take over the batting coaching duties on an interim basis. This arrangement is expected to remain in place until a permanent replacement, potentially a foreign coach, is appointed.

Ashraful, a former national captain, held the position for less than a year after his appointment in November 2025. While the BCB has not officially cited the team’s recent batting struggles as the reason for the dismissal, the move comes amid heavy criticism of the squad's performance. The board indicated that Ashraful will be assigned a different role within the organization, though the specific nature of this new responsibility has not been disclosed.
