Bangladesh education boards propose HSC re-examinations

Bangladesh education boards are considering the introduction of interim or re-examinations for students who failed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams this year. During a meeting held at the Dhaka Education Board on October 12, chairmen from various education boards expressed support for conducting these re-exams within three months of the initial results being released.

Professor Syed Akteruzzaman, Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, stated that a proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Education to release the HSC and equivalent exam results between October 25 and October 29. If approved, the re-examination system could be implemented starting with this year's cycle, potentially becoming a regular practice.

While the possibility of re-exams for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) was discussed, officials noted it is currently unfeasible due to the conclusion of college admission processes. The Ministry of Education will make the final decision regarding the scope, number of subjects, and specific procedures for the re-examinations.
