Bangladesh private ICDs raise service charges by 9.85%
Private Inland Container Depots (ICDs) in Bangladesh have increased charges for six key services by 9.85% following a significant rise in fuel prices. The Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association (BICDA) announced that the revised rates became effective on 21 September.
The price adjustment follows a 17.4% increase in diesel prices, rising from Tk115 to Tk135 per litre, alongside increases in octane, petrol, and kerosene. BICDA Secretary General Md Ruhul Amin Sikder stated the surcharge was necessary to offset additional fuel-related operating costs incurred by the private off-docks.
The 9.85% surcharge applies to several services, including the transportation of empty containers between Chattogram Port and private ICDs, lifting and handling of empty containers, stuffing and handling of export goods, and the unloading or delivery of imported goods. These depots are critical to the national logistics chain, with 21 private ICDs in the Chattogram area handling export cargo destined for shipment.
