Bangladesh reports 839 new dengue cases and five deaths in 24 hours

Bangladesh has reported 839 new dengue cases and five deaths within a 24-hour period ending Sunday morning. This brings the country’s total caseload for the year to 28,929, with a cumulative death toll of 82, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest fatalities occurred among patients aged between 26 and 50. Geographically, the highest number of new cases were recorded in the Khulna and Dhaka divisions, each reporting 159 cases. Other significant clusters include Barishal with 117 cases and Chattogram with 100 cases.

Since January 1, 26,896 patients have recovered and been discharged, while 1,951 individuals remain hospitalized. Data indicates that August has seen the highest monthly volume of infections this year with 13,619 cases, following 9,206 cases in July. The current infection rate has already surpassed the figures recorded during the same period last year.
