Bangladesh export growth rises in major Asian markets
Bangladesh is seeing increased export growth in major Asian markets. According to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data for the first quarter of the fiscal year (July–September), exports to China rose by 9.33% to $225.41 million, while exports to South Korea increased by 7.29% to $134.5 million. Exports to India grew by 5.44% to $510 million, and Japan saw a slight increase to $399.1 million.
EPB Vice Chairman Mohammad Hasan Arif noted that the country is focusing on product diversification to strengthen its position in these markets, particularly in China and India.
In domestic news, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman announced that master plans are being developed for every city corporation and district to ensure planned, safe, and inclusive urbanization. Additionally, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal stated that political identity is not being considered in government job recruitment processes.
In the technology and business sectors, TikTok has introduced an AI-driven ‘Shopping Assistant’ and one-click purchasing features to enhance user experience. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has warned market authorities in Chattogram against imposing illegal service fees or restricting internet service providers in local markets.
