Overview
Bangladesh continues to see growth in its capital markets and international trade sectors. In the first eight months of 2026, foreign investment in the Dhaka Stock Exchange rose by 37.6 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 37.01 billion BDT, driven by market reforms like the T+1 settlement system.
Export earnings also show upward trends. During the July–September period, total exports grew by 6.34 percent to $13.09 billion. Recent data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) highlights specific growth within major Asian markets. Exports to China rose by 9.33 percent to $225.41 million, while South Korea saw a 7.29 percent increase to $134.5 million. Exports to India grew by 5.44 percent to $510 million, and Japan recorded a slight increase to $399.1 million.
EPB Vice Chairman Mohammad Hasan Arif stated that the country is focusing on “product diversification to strengthen its position” in these markets, particularly in China and India.
