Port Polska faces 20 billion PLN budget gap amid construction progress
Port Polska (formerly CPK) is facing a significant budget deficit exceeding 20 billion PLN, primarily due to a reduction in expected European Union subsidies for the High-Speed Rail project. While original estimates for EU funding were 33.6 billion PLN, current projections suggest Poland may only receive between 10 billion and 12 billion PLN.
To address this shortfall, the state development bank, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK), is in preliminary discussions to provide financing. BGK is considering loans of up to 10 billion PLN for the aviation component in Baranów and up to 10 billion PLN for the railway component.
Despite financial challenges, physical preparations for the project are underway. The company has obtained permission for preparatory works and is currently seeking a full construction permit, which is expected by December 2026. On-site activities include earthworks, land leveling, and the completion of 94 test piles for the passenger terminal foundations. The project aims to begin flight operations by 2032.
