Bank Indonesia: President Prabowo proposes four candidates for leadership roles

President Prabowo Subianto has officially submitted presidential letters to the House of Representatives (DPR RI) proposing four candidates to fill key leadership positions within Bank Indonesia (BI).

Destry Damayanti, the current Senior Deputy Governor and Acting Governor, has been proposed as the sole candidate for the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia. To fill other strategic roles, the President has nominated Aida S. Budiman for Senior Deputy Governor, and Solikhin M. Juhro and Anwar Bashori as candidates for the Deputy Governor position.

Speaker of the House Puan Maharani confirmed receipt of the letters from State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi. She stated that the candidates will undergo the standard parliamentary mechanism, including fit and proper tests, starting after the legislative session opens on August 14, 2026.

Market analysts, including researchers from DBS Group, have noted a positive response to the nominations, suggesting that the selection of experienced internal technocrats may support Rupiah stability and maintain confidence in Indonesia's monetary policy framework.
