Overview

Following the resignation of Governor Perry Warjiyo in July 2026, President Prabowo Subianto proposed candidates to fill key leadership positions at Bank Indonesia. On August 26, 2026, Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) approved Destry Damayanti, the current acting governor, to serve as Governor for the 2026–2031 term. Alongside her, the commission approved Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor.

On August 31, 2026, the DPR officially approved the new leadership during a plenary session. Damayanti, who previously served as Senior Deputy Governor, becomes the first woman to lead the central bank.

On September 2, 2026, the new leadership team officially took their oaths of office before Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sunarto in Jakarta. The appointments were formalized through Presidential Decree Number 92/P of 2026. During her vetting process and subsequent inauguration, Damayanti reiterated her ‘Red and White Synergy’ (Sinergi Merah Putih) vision, emphasizing that maintaining economic stability remains the central bank’s top priority amid high global uncertainty. She pledged to ensure Bank Indonesia’s independence while strengthening coordination with the government’s fiscal policies to support sustainable economic growth and job creation.
