Bank Indonesia urges copyright protection for NTT woven fabrics
Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti has called for stronger copyright protection for the motifs and works of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) woven fabrics. Speaking at the Flobamorata Creative Expo 2026 in Kupang, Damayanti emphasized that intellectual property rights are essential to protecting weavers and increasing the economic value of local products, allowing them to reach broader markets.
Damayanti noted that developing regional flagship products, including weaving, coffee, and culinary items, is vital for building the NTT economy. Supporting this, Reghi Perdana, Acting Deputy for Micro Enterprises at the Ministry of MSMEs, stated that increasing production capacity must be paired with market awareness. He highlighted the need for MSMEs to meet quality standards, access financing, and connect with global supply chains to ensure business growth.
