Bank of Agriculture rolls out fertilizer distribution for 10,000 hectares in Katsina, Nigeria

The Bank of Agriculture (BOA) has launched its 2026 wet‑season input distribution in Katsina State, Nigeria, under the Smallholder Farmer Input Support Programme. In partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the programme targets about 10,000 hectares through more than 1,000 farmer cooperatives and aggregation companies. Each participating farmer will receive four bags of NPK fertiliser and two bags of urea.

BOA’s Managing Director Ayo Sotinri said the rollout uses a data‑driven verification framework that includes farmer profiling, Bank Verification Numbers, KYC checks, GPS farm mapping and field‑level validation to ensure subsidies reach genuine producers. State Governor Dikko Radda and Commissioner for Rural and Social Development Prof. Abdulhamid Mani called agriculture the backbone of the state’s economy and praised the collaboration for strengthening rural livelihoods and food security. The chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria’s Katsina chapter, Yau Gojo, welcomed the timely input supply, noting it will boost yields and household incomes.
