BRI plans Rp1 trillion share buyback through January 2027

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) has announced plans to execute a share buyback totaling up to Rp1 trillion. The program is scheduled to take place between October 22, 2026, and January 21, 2027, following approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Management stated that the buyback will be funded using internal cash and conducted through the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), either in stages or as a single transaction. The company expects the buyback to result in an increase in earnings per share, rising from Rp206.94 to Rp207.50, while ensuring the total shares repurchased do not exceed 10 percent of the placed capital.

The repurchased shares are intended for a share ownership program involving employees, directors, and the board of commissioners, subject to general meeting of shareholders approval.

In related developments, BRI continues its involvement in the National Internship Program supported by the Ministry of Manpower, hosting 783 active participants in 2026 to enhance professional competencies for young graduates.
