Banking sector in Fiji expands operations and professional training

Financial institutions in Fiji are expanding their operational capabilities and human capital investments. BRED Bank Fiji has completed a major modernization of its international payments by migrating all active Visa and private-label cards to BPC’s cloud-based SmartVista issuing platform. This upgrade aims to improve security, support e-commerce, and enable faster deployment of new card programs.

Additionally, BRED Bank has opened a new headquarters in Suva, reinforcing Fiji’s role as the cornerstone of its South Pacific expansion strategy. The bank intends to continue investing in the local economy and job creation.

In a separate development, Westpac Pacific has launched the Future Banker Development Series, a six-month program for emerging professionals from Fiji and Papua New Guinea. The initiative focuses on strengthening local banking expertise through practical skills such as stakeholder engagement and emotional intelligence to support the evolving financial sector.
