Banking sectors expand access in Dominican Republic and Argentina
In the Dominican Republic, the Association of Multiple Banks (ABA) reported a 44% increase in physical banking access points over the last eight years. Between 2015 and 2023, access points grew from 4,704 to 6,777, driven by the expansion of ATMs and banking sub-agents. As of late 2023, the network included 885 branches, 3,322 ATMs, and 2,570 banking sub-agents, which serve as extensions of banks in remote communities.
In Argentina, Banco Credicoop is intensifying its support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the oil, gas, and mining sectors. This strategic shift aims to address the evolving needs of suppliers in the Vaca Muerta region. The bank is specializing its branch operations to provide tailored financial tools, such as short- and long-term financing, leasing, and equipment importation, to help firms integrate into these expanding markets.
