North African and Turkish entities launch startup and entrepreneurship initiatives

Various North African and Turkish institutions are implementing strategic initiatives to bolster entrepreneurship and startup ecosystems.

In Morocco, Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) and Réseau Entreprendre Maroc (REM) have signed a reinforced partnership agreement. This collaboration aims to support young entrepreneurs by bridging the gap between project maturation and banking access through mentorship, operational expertise, and tailored financing solutions via REM’s ‘START’ program and BCP’s banking services.

In Türkiye, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced targets to produce 100,000 technology startups by 2030, aiming for a combined unicorn valuation of $100 billion. The government is working to channel an additional $300 million into venture capital funds and is developing Terminal Istanbul at Atatürk Airport as a major research and investment hub.

In Tunisia, Smart Tunisie is executing a capital increase through the incorporation of reserves, raising its social capital from 50.6 to 55.7 million dinars in an initial phase. Additionally, the Banque Maghrébine d’Investissement et de Commerce Extérieur (BMICE) has announced a strategic plan for 2027–2030 to increase its credit and financing portfolio by 50%, focusing on infrastructure, energy, and food security across the Maghreb region. Tunisia is also launching new startup financing initiatives to improve capital access for innovative companies.
