Banreservas Arena Renovation Advances Ahead of 2026 Central American Games
Leonardo Aguilera, executive president of Banreservas, inspected the ongoing remodel of the Arena Banreservas Virgilio Travieso Soto in Santo Domingo. He confirmed that work is progressing to meet international standards and to support upcoming sports events.
The upgraded arena will host the Dominican national basketball team's World Cup qualifier games in early July against the United States and Nicaragua (or Guatemala, according to a separate report). It is also slated as a primary venue for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, whose opening is planned for 24 July. Officials from the Dominican Ministry of Sports, the Olympic Committee, the Games organizing committee and the national basketball federation attended the visit.
The renovation aims to provide modern facilities for athletes, delegations and spectators, reinforcing the country's readiness for regional and global competitions.
