Banreservas expands tourism credit portfolio to over RD$60,000 million

Banreservas has announced that its credit portfolio for the tourism sector has exceeded RD$60,000 million. During the opening of the Punta Bergantín Welcome Center in Puerto Plata, executive president Leonardo Aguilera detailed that the bank is currently evaluating over 40 projects with estimated investments exceeding US$6,161 million.

These planned developments include approximately 16,000 new hotel rooms, health tourism facilities, cruise terminals, and theme parks. The bank also confirmed it will provide financing for specific residential projects, such as Villas Hacienda Serena and Velavento, to support the transition of Punta Bergantín from the planning phase to active execution.

Additionally, a new research program has been established through an agreement between the Pontifical Catholic University of Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), the Ministry of Tourism, and the Punta Bergantín Development Trust. This initiative aims to monitor the economic and social impact of the new tourism pole on local communities, tracking indicators such as job creation, investment, and quality of life.
