Barahni–Deoghar Special Train Launched for Shravani Mela

Indian Railways has announced an unreserved special train service between Barahni in West Bengal and Deoghar in Jharkhand to accommodate the surge of pilgrims attending the Shravani Mela. The train, numbered 05028 outbound and 05027 return, will operate daily from 28 July to 30 August 2026, completing 33 round trips. Outbound it departs Barahni at 15:20 and reaches Deoghar the next day at 13:00, stopping at Munger, Sultanpur, Bhagalpur, Barahat and Banka; the return departs Deoghar at 18:45 and arrives Barahni at 15:15, stopping at the same stations in reverse order.

The service is intended to ease pilgrim travel and reduce crowding on regular trains during the month‑long religious festival.

In parallel, security for the Baba Baidyanath Dham during the Shravani Mela will be upgraded with high‑tech measures, including an AI‑based control room, drones and smart surveillance operating 24 hours, alongside the deployment of more than 14,000 additional security personnel and multiple police, rescue and disaster‑response units.
