Barahona declares October 7 as Municipal Rejoicing Day

The Municipal Council of Barahona has declared October 7, 2026, as a Municipal Rejoicing Day (Día de Regocijo Municipal). This designation, established through Resolution No. 21-2026, marks the feast day of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the patron saint of the municipality.

The resolution designates the date as a non-working day in Barahona to honor the religious, historical, and cultural significance of the celebration. The local government aims to preserve the traditions and cultural identity associated with the patron saint, who is recognized as the spiritual mother of the community.

Local authorities have invited public and private institutions, as well as the general citizenry, to observe the holiday and participate in the commemorative activities organized in honor of the patron saint.
