Barakaldo begins mechanical ramp installation in Arrontegi

The Barakaldo City Council has commenced construction on three mechanical ramps in the Arrontegi neighborhood to improve urban accessibility. The project, located on Bizkaia Street between numbers 39 and 47, aims to create an accessible corridor connecting Araba Street and Castilla-La Mancha Street by overcoming a 10.5% incline.

Investment estimates for the project range between 1.6 million and 1.835 million euros. The contract was awarded to the company Viconsa. Mayor Amaia del Campo stated that the works respond to local demands for better mobility within the neighborhood.

The construction is expected to last approximately eleven months, with completion targeted for mid-2027. During this period, traffic reordering and the removal of approximately a dozen parking spaces will be implemented in the section between Castilla-La Mancha and the local public school, with circulation cuts scheduled to begin on October 13.
