Brazil launches waterway, road and highway concession projects
Brazil is advancing a series of infrastructure initiatives across several states. A technical cooperation agreement was signed by the Laguna de Araruama Basin Committee, the Intermunicipal Consortium of Lagos São João and the National Department of Transport to develop waterway and port facilities in the Laguna de Araruama, with a 30‑month schedule for feasibility and environmental studies.
The Bahia state Secretariat of Infrastructure opened three tenders to pave and restore a total of 40.67 km of state roads (BA‑422, BA‑220 and BA‑046). In Barbalha, the municipal government approved a service order to pave the Estrada da Lagoa, investing nearly R$ 11 million and adding shoulders and underground drainage.
Apucarana’s city council scheduled a public hearing on a R$ 30 million loan request from Caixa Econômica Federal to fund asphalt resurfacing, trucks and machinery, with a 12‑month grace period and amortization over 5‑9 years at CDI + 0.95% interest. The Federal Ministry of Transport announced pre‑feasibility studies for the concession of sections of BR‑101 and BR‑304 in Rio Grande do Norte and other states, covering about 2,368 km. Finally, Curitiba republished a tender worth up to R$ 185.86 million for a 6‑km “trinário” project linking the Boqueirão, Matriz and Portão regionals, including new viaducts and urban upgrades.
