Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic launches on PC and consoles

Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic – the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, a remastered version of the 2002 bullet hell shooter, has launched on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed by Shanghai Alice Reprise and published by Alliance Arts, the title features high-resolution graphics and rearranged music composed by the original creator, ZUN.

The remaster includes new accessibility features such as a Spell Practice Mode and an unlimited lives option. It is sold as a bundle containing both the original-style ‘Classic’ version and the enhanced ‘New Classic’ version.

Following its release on September 10, the game reached the top of the Steam sales rankings in Japan. It has received ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews on Steam, with high approval ratings of approximately 98% to 99% from English and Chinese-speaking players.
