Shanghai Alice Reprise announced the upcoming release of ‘Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic – the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil’, a remake of the 2002 bullet hell shooter. The project, supported by technical analysis from ‘AQUA STYLE’ to ensure modern Windows compatibility, was designed to include the original ‘Classic’ version for free alongside the enhanced ‘New Classic’ version.

The remake features high-resolution 1080p support, a new ‘Challenge Mode’ with infinite lives, improved hit detection, and rearranged music by the original creator, ZUN. It was scheduled for a September 10 release on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Following its launch, the game reached the top of the Steam sales rankings in Japan. It has received ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews on Steam, maintaining high approval ratings between 98% and 99% among English and Chinese-speaking players.
