Jordi Martí wins Junts primary, becomes Barcelona’s 2027 mayoral candidate

Jordi Martí was elected the official candidate of Junts per Catalunya for the 2027 Barcelona municipal elections after winning the party’s internal primary with 253 votes, representing 40.29 % of the 628 ballots cast (67.24 % turnout of the 934 eligible militants). He beat Pilar Calvo (29.30 %), Jaume Alonso‑Cuevillas (18.63 %) and Glòria Freixa (11.15 %). Martí’s victory was backed by former mayor Xavier Trias, who named him his successor in the city council, but he did not receive the endorsement of Carles Puigdemont’s preferred candidate Josep Rius. Following the win, Martí ruled out any coalition with the emerging Aliança Catalana, calling the party “far from traditional Catalan nationalism.” The result positions him as Junts’ mayoral contender for the 2027 elections in Barcelona.
