Barcelos opens applications for 36 affordable rental homes
The Barcelos City Council has opened applications for 36 affordable rental housing units located in the parish of Tamel (São Veríssimo). The contest, which was unanimously approved by the council, is part of the ‘1.º Direito’ Program.
The housing complex, situated on Avenida Central, includes nine T1 apartments, 23 T2 apartments, and four T3 apartments. Each unit comes with a private parking space. Monthly rents have been set at 281 euros for T1 units, 347 euros for T2 units, and 447 euros for T3 units. These rates represent 60% of the median rental value per square meter for the Barcelos municipality, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics.
Applications must be submitted between September 9 and September 22 at 11:59 PM. While the municipality prefers electronic submissions via its online service platform, paper applications may be accepted at the Municipal Single Desk. The units will be delivered in new condition with hot water equipment installed, though tenants are responsible for kitchen equipment and furniture. Final selection for permanent housing will be determined by lottery.
