Bari advances Bus Rapid Transit infrastructure works

Construction is advancing on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in Bari, specifically focusing on the Green and Lilac lines.

The Green line, the most extensive of the four planned routes, covers over ten kilometers connecting Japigia to Via Di Maratona. This route will link major city hubs including the Polivalente, Fiera del Levante, Policlinico, and the university campus. Work is currently in its final stages at Largo Due Giugno, where dedicated BRT lanes marked by red asphalt are being installed alongside lanes for private vehicles. As part of the urban redevelopment, several trees were relocated to a nursery for replanting next spring, while other greenery will be added to the area.

Simultaneously, work continues on the Lilac line, which serves as a connector between Parco Due Giugno and the central station. This eight-kilometer route passes through Municipio 2 and the city center. In Corso Benedetto Croce, electric buses will operate primarily on a dedicated BRT lane. The project includes the installation of technological, interconnected bus shelters at several stops, such as Parco Rossani, Benedetto Croce, and Chiesa Russa. The intersection of the Green and Lilac lines will allow commuters to transfer easily between the two routes.
