Bari and Atrani gear up for July religious festivals, with transport adjustments and tourist influx

In Bari, the municipal police and civil protection ordered temporary changes to public transport on Monday 13 July (from 18:00) and Thursday 16 July (from 20:00). Amtab bus lines 4 and 30 that run near the procession route of the Madonna del Carmelo may be delayed as vehicles wait for the crowd to clear. Coordination measures are in place and a toll‑free hotline (800 450 444) has been provided for passenger inquiries.

Meanwhile, the coastal town of Atrani on the Amalfi Coast is preparing for its annual Santa Maria Maddalena celebration on 22 July. The event includes a solemn religious service, a traditional statue procession through the narrow streets, evening concerts, and a fireworks display over the sea that draws thousands of visitors. Local authorities highlight the festival’s role in reinforcing community identity and boosting tourism in the region.
