Bari hosts conclusion of 349 km ecological marathon

The 12th edition of the ‘Keep clean and run’ ecological marathon concluded in Bari, Italy, at the Basilica of San Nicola. Organized by eco-runner Roberto Cavallo, the event aimed to promote environmental protection and waste sorting through the sport of plogging.

The marathon spanned 349 kilometers across three regions, following the Via Francigena del Sud and the Cammino Materano, starting from Benevento. Over the course of the journey, participants and local citizens collected 500 kg of waste, including glass bottles and packaging. This effort resulted in an estimated reduction of 350 kg of CO2 emissions.

Upon arrival in Bari, Cavallo was received by the municipal environmental assessor, Elda Perlino. The event concluded with a symbolic handover of the initiative's flag and a collection of the waste gathered during the run to highlight the importance of community responsibility and environmental decorum.
