Bari rolls out artistic waste‑bin redesign and €100k legal‑legitimacy programme

The municipality of Bari, the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari and the regional waste‑management firm Amiu Puglia have signed a three‑year protocol to transform ordinary recycling containers into public artworks. Launched on 29 July 2026, the scheme will involve students designing and decorating the bins, aiming to raise environmental awareness and improve the visual quality of public spaces.

A separate initiative, the “Accordi di Legalità” pact, was signed on 27 July 2026 by the Metropolitan City of Bari together with NGOs Libera, Avviso Pubblico and Arci Bari‑Bat. Funded with €100 000, the programme will create territorial legal‑presences, manage confiscated assets, run training for local administrators and engage young citizens in anti‑crime and transparency activities. Mayor Vito Leccese highlighted the project’s focus on building community links and restoring confiscated goods to the public good.
