Bari to Host Regional Agricultural Commission on Olive Sector

The next Commission on Agricultural Policies of the Conference of Regions will convene in Bari on 24 September, coinciding with the Fiera del Levante. The agenda will largely focus on the olive sector and the difficulties confronting producers and firms.

Puglia’s assessor for Agriculture and Rural Development, Francesco Paolicelli, said the meeting aims to secure backing from other regional assessors and present a unified position to the government. Together with Calabria, the regions are seeking coordinated actions to address market pressures, falling extra‑virgin olive‑oil prices and rising production costs that threaten the sector’s profitability, and have already urged the national government to adopt both immediate and longer‑term measures.
