Bari's Via Argiro Revamp Near Completion Under PNRR

Mayor Vito Leccese and local police assessor Carla Palone inspected the Via Argiro redevelopment in Bari, noting that the project—funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)—is now in its final stages. The works, covering about 14,000 m², have transformed the street into a modern, greener rambla and have already reopened the intersection with Via Calefati to traffic. Remaining tasks include completing pedestrian crossings and final finishing works.

Local merchants have reported significant sales losses during the construction, with one shop owner estimating a 30‑40 % drop in revenue. The officials acknowledged the hardships and promised continued waste‑management inspections to ensure compliance by non‑domestic users. The project, launched in September of the previous year, was slated for a 300‑day timeline and is among the first PNRR‑backed works slated for completion in the city.
