Barisan Nasional readies Negeri Sembilan candidates as it hails Johor election victory

Barisan Nasional (BN) will announce its slate of candidates for the Negeri Sembilan state election (PRN) this week. The nomination day is set for 18 July, early voting on 28 July, and the main poll on 1 August; 36 state‑assembly seats and about 889,400 registered voters are at stake. BN chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said candidate selection is being tailored to the state's demographic and voting patterns.

After a decisive BN victory in the Johor state election, UMNO secretary‑general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki warned that the win must not lead to complacency. He urged party representatives and officials to work harder for the people, stating, “there is no time for patting ourselves on the back; the mandate must be fulfilled with hard work.”
