Negeri Sembilan state election: BN‑Perikatan coalition unveils manifesto, pledges 50,000 jobs

Barisan Nasional (BN) launched its Negeri Sembilan state election manifesto, highlighting the “Skim Salam Sejahtera” scheme that provides cash assistance and savings contributions for newborns, students, graduates, youth couples, seniors and bereaved families. The party also promised RM30 billion in new state investments and the creation of 50,000 jobs over five years.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) adopted the BN platform as a joint election programme, adding 14 new pledges covering a blue‑economy plan, a state AI and semiconductor talent corporation, transit housing for newlyweds and graduates, expanded low‑income aid and welfare for non‑Muslim religious affairs. The coalition has been referred to in the campaign as Perikatan Barisan Nasional (PBN), a name presented as a convenient label rather than a formal title.

Candidates are also vying for individual seats, including Malaysian Paralympic Council president Megat D Shahriman Zaharudin, who is running on a Bersatu ticket to represent the disabled community. The campaign has boosted hotel bookings in Negeri Sembilan by up to 90 %, though hawker stalls report little change in sales.

Overall, the election narrative centres on BN‑PN cooperation, extensive welfare promises, and a focus on jobs and investment to revive development in the state.
