Barisan Nasional vows to retain all 21 seats in Melaka state election

Barisan Nasional (BN) leader Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition will not share any of the 21 state assembly seats it won in the previous Melaka election. He stressed that BN is determined to defend all those seats in the upcoming state poll and that the party’s central leadership will act as the final arbiter in any political agreements.

Zahid added that while BN will hold firm on the seats, it remains open to discussions with other parties to achieve broader cooperation. The state chief minister, who also chairs the BN Melaka branch, has expressed a similar commitment to retain the seats, and meetings are planned to explore possible understandings.

The coalition previously secured 21 of the 28 seats in the Melaka State Legislative Assembly, giving it a two‑thirds majority and control of the state government.
