Barranquilla Health Network Wins Top Prize at Latin American Forum in Brazil
The public health network of Barranquilla, MiRed IPS, secured first place in the "Population" category at the 11th Latin American Forum on Quality and Safety in Health held in São Paulo, Brazil. The award recognized the network’s research on maternal‑perinatal care for migrant populations, selected from 363 projects across Latin America. Mayor Alejandro Char highlighted the achievement as proof that Barranquilla’s 18‑year public‑health model delivers quality, equity and high standards, especially for the city’s most vulnerable residents.
The forum, organized by Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, praised the Barranquilla model for its impact on maternal‑perinatal outcomes and its contribution to regional health excellence.
