Barrel and house fires cause property damage in Kirn and Altengottern, Germany

In Altengottern, Thuringia, firefighters responded to a blaze caused by an improperly extinguished fire barrel that ignited a straw pile beneath a roof. The flames damaged the roof, resulting in several hundred euros of property loss. No people were injured and the fire was contained before spreading.

In Kirn, Rhineland‑Palatinate, a larger incident began in a wooden shed on Dhauner Straße and quickly engulfed two residential houses, with a third building suffering minor heat damage. The fire burned for several hours before being extinguished by regional fire crews. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation, and the estimated loss is in the mid‑six‑figure euro range. No injuries were reported.
