Barretos Rodeo generates R$ 742 million in direct economic impact

The 71st Festa do Peão de Barretos generated R$ 742 million in direct financial movement, according to data from the Centro de Inteligência da Economia do Turismo (CIET). Held between August 20 and 30, 2026, the event attracted an estimated 1 million people, with 84% identified as tourists or excursionists.

Visitors originated from all 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District, as well as international locations including the United States and Mexico. The highest numbers of tourists came from Minas Gerais (13.8%), Paraná (8.7%), and Goiás (6.1%). The average daily expenditure per person was R$ 816, with an average stay of five days.

In a related human-interest aspect of the event, Cleberson Brito, known as ‘Zé da Bota’, completed a seven-month journey on mule to reach the festival. Brito joined the ‘Berranteiro das Américas’ expedition in Acre, transforming what was intended to be a short trip into a long-distance trek to Barretos.
