Baruipur: Four arrested for murder of BJP worker Bapi Pramanik
West Bengal Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of Bapi Pramanik, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas district.
The suspects include Sujan Mondal, a former local BJP leader who had been recently suspended from the party for anti-party activities, along with Krishna Mondal, Kanak Mondal, and Anil Naiya.
Pramanik’s family alleges he was lured from his home via a phone call on Sunday night and subsequently attacked with sharp weapons. While the family suggests the killing was a planned attack involving local political rivalries, police investigators suspect the incident may have stemmed from old enmities or a dispute regarding the formation of a local puja committee.
Local BJP leaders have clarified that Sujan Mondal was no longer a member of the party at the time of the incident. Police are continuing to investigate the exact motives and the specific roles played by each of the arrested individuals.
