Infrastructure projects cause traffic disruptions in Switzerland and Germany
Various infrastructure projects and road maintenance works are causing traffic disruptions across Switzerland and Germany.
In Switzerland, new pedestrian crossings have been installed on Gotthardstrasse in Zug to improve safety for students and elderly residents near the local music school and retirement center. In Basel, the A2 motorway will face weekend restrictions during September and October as workers install noise-reducing road surfaces near the Bäumlihof bridge and Schwarzwald tunnel. Additionally, the A2 near Beckenried will undergo traffic shifts, including night closures, to facilitate repairs on the Lehnen Viaduct.
In Germany, several major roadworks are underway. The B 286 between Schweinfurt and Dittelbrunn will be fully closed for resurfacing and repairs until September 2026. The B 299 between Amberg and Neumarkt is also closed for extensive renovations through November 2026. Furthermore, the A14 near Schwerin will experience single-lane traffic between August and October to prepare for the replacement of the Störwasserstraße bridge.
