Italy implements various disability support and inclusion measures

Several Italian regions and municipalities are launching initiatives to support people with disabilities through funding for healthcare, education, employment, and mobility.

In Basilicata, the regional government has allocated 800,000 euros to improve employment opportunities for 42 unemployed individuals with disabilities. Additionally, 2.4 million euros have been designated for the 2026/2027 school year to provide specialist assistance for 1,163 students.

Tuscany has distributed 14 million euros from the Fund for Non-Self-Sufficiency to support families of people with severe disabilities. These funds allow for monthly contributions between 900 and 1,200 euros to assist with home care services.

In Messina, the municipal government approved a 100,000 euro measure to provide free public transport subscriptions for residents holding a European Disability Card. Meanwhile, in Brescia, the provincial administration is contacting approximately 5,000 companies to encourage the hiring of people with disabilities through targeted placement services.

In Peveragno, the Italian Red Cross has updated its equipment and vehicles, including new ambulances and transport vehicles, to support its disability transport services.
