Basilicata regional education and disability funding

Overview

The Basilicata region has implemented several financial initiatives to support students. In late October 2026, the region approved 1.2 million euros for the “Il Valore del Sapere” program, awarding scholarships to 1,209 meritorious upper secondary school students. Regional Councilor Francesco Cupparo noted the investment aims to support merit and youth to help retain the young population in Basilicata.

By early November 2026, the region announced an increase in funding specifically for students with disabilities for the 2026/2027 academic year. This allocation totals 2.4 million euros, consisting of 600,000 euros from the regional budget and 1.8 million euros from the PR FSE+ Basilicata 2021–2027 fund. The resources are intended to provide specialist assistance to 1,163 students across nine socio-territorial areas.

On November 5, 2026, additional regional measures were identified, including an allocation of 800,000 euros aimed at improving employment opportunities for 42 unemployed individuals with disabilities.
