Basilicata approves new sports vouchers as Potenza secures €3 million for arena

The Basilicata regional council approved a decree to fund the continuation of the “Buoni Sport” program for 2023‑2025, allocating €119,501 of new resources and potentially adding savings from previous editions. The measure aims to support families in economic difficulty, with a maximum contribution of €300 per beneficiary, focusing on minors, elderly and persons with disabilities. Regional Economic Development Assessor Francesco Cupparo said the initiative “invests in sport as a lever for well‑being, social inclusion and community growth.”

In the neighboring region of Apulia, the municipality of Potenza obtained a €3 million grant under the national “Sport and Peripheries 2025” call to build a new Palazzetto dello Sport in the Macchia Giocoli area, which will be integrated with a planned Olympic‑size swimming pool. Mayor Vincenzo Telesca called the funding “a victory for the city” and highlighted its importance for youth, local clubs and community life.
