Basilicata Extends Deadline for Smart Bin Funding to Boost Waste Recycling
The Basilicata regional council approved a resolution extending the deadline for submitting proposals under the public notice for "Smart bins" to 12:00 PM on 31 July. The programme provides up to €3.5 million in non‑recoverable grants, covering 100 % of the cost of RFID‑enabled smart waste containers and advanced digital tools. The measure aims to strengthen separate waste collection in urban areas, improve traceability of disposals and lay the groundwork for precise, polluter‑pays tariffs in line with EU 2030 waste targets.
Regional Environment and Energy Transition Assessor Laura Mongiello said, “We guarantee transparency, fairness and equal access to a measure that will change the face of municipal waste management, fully integrating with the €17.4 million regional infrastructure upgrade.” The extension gives municipalities an additional fifteen days to refine project proposals and meet documentation requirements.
