Basque cultural events announced in Bilbao and Donostia

The Bilbao Municipal Txistulari Band will perform ‘Kantaldia’ at the Euskalduna Palace on October 21. Part of the ‘Soinu zaharrak, begirada berria’ cycle, the performance features eight musicians interpreting thirteen Basque choral and popular songs. The program includes works by artists such as Benito Lertxundi, Oskorri, and Itoiz, utilizing contemporary arrangements to blend traditional txistu melodies with modern instrumental and vocal textures.

In Donostia, the eighth edition of the LABO XL festival is scheduled for November 12 to 15 at Tabakalera and Gazteszena. The festival will showcase 22 performances, including 16 dance pieces, four theater productions, one circus act, and one concert. This year’s edition features international companies from Estonia, France, and Portugal, with the Balearic Islands serving as the guest territory. The event aims to foster connections between artists, cultural agents, and the public through various performances and mediation meetings.
