Basque parties PNV and EH Bildu explore coalition talks with PSOE

EH Bildu secretary‑general Arnaldo Otegi announced that his party is ready to share the leadership of the Basque institutions with the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV) and the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). Otegi framed the proposal as a broad‑spectrum government, citing the historic trans‑regional executive of the Spanish Civil War and calling for a rally on 14 November in Bilbao to build a “democratic wall” against the right‑wing bloc.

PNV leader Aitor Esteban criticised Bildu for invoking the PNV legacy, saying the party lacks its own project and merely adopts PNV references to gain influence. Esteban rejected Bildu’s approach, accusing it of opposing PNV initiatives while offering a coalition hand, and urged the national government to focus on the remaining months of the legislature.
