Senegal's Bassirou Diomaye Faye installs Youth Advisory Council
Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye officially installed the 1,227 members of the Conseil consultatif des Jeunes du Sénégal (CCJS), a new consultative body designed to integrate youth voices into national governance and the 'Sénégal 2050' agenda.
During the ceremony, Faye addressed several critical challenges for the new generation. He urged young people to exercise responsibility and dignity on social media, warning against using digital anonymity to make disrespectful comments. He also cautioned against wasting time on online trivialities.
Regarding technology, the President emphasized the importance of mastering artificial intelligence. He stated that Senegal should not merely be a consumer of foreign intelligence but should develop its own experts, including engineers and linguists, to create AI solutions adapted to local realities and national languages.
Furthermore, Faye instructed his government to accelerate the deployment of the New National Employment Policy to address youth socio-economic integration. He called for the territorialization of youth policies to ensure they meet the specific needs of different regions and announced an annual meeting with the CCJS to evaluate government actions.
