Batam and Pekanbaru receive public service and sustainability awards
Several Indonesian cities have received regional and national awards for governance and sustainability. Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad was presented with the National Public Service and Information Disclosure Care Award by the Minister of PANRB, Rini Widyantini, in Jakarta. The award recognizes the collaborative efforts between the Batam City Government and BP Batam in improving public service quality and transparency.
In a separate achievement, Pekanbaru Mayor Agung Nugroho earned four honors at the inaugural IMT-GT Green City Award 2026 held in Medan. Represented by Deputy Mayor Markarius Anwar, Pekanbaru received gold for Education for Sustainable Development, silver for Urban Biodiversity and Ecosystem Management, and bronze for Solid Waste Management. The city also received a Certificate of Recognition for Sustainable Transportation and Low-Carbon Mobility. These awards were presented by Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian during the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle forum.
