Indonesian regional government performance awards

Overview

Regional governments in Indonesia continue to receive various performance and governance awards. In South Kalimantan, during the province’s 76th anniversary, Alalak Selatan Village was named the best village for 2026 regarding governance, public service, and community empowerment. Banjarmasin City ranked third in investment realization for 2025, while Banjarbaru City received 2026 KPPN Awards for its physical DAK distribution in 2025 and its DAU distribution for the first semester of 2026.

In Sumatra, the Ministry of Home Affairs held an appreciation event in Batam for outstanding local governments. Batam, Bandar Lampung, and Pekanbaru were recognized for their implementation of the ‘3 Million Houses Program’. The Riau Islands Provincial Government received the ‘ASRI Waste and Environmental Management’ award, which includes a Rp1.5 billion fiscal incentive. Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian noted that these incentives are to be deposited directly into regional financial accounts to motivate local governments.

Further recognition has been granted for public service and sustainability. Batam received the National Public Service and Information Disclosure Care Award in Jakarta, honoring the collaboration between the Batam City Government and BP Batam. Additionally, Pekanbaru earned multiple honors at the inaugural IMT-GT Green City Award 2026, including gold for Education for Sustainable Development, silver for Urban Biodiversity and Ecosystem Management, and bronze for Solid Waste Management, alongside a certificate for Sustainable Transportation and Low-Carbon Mobility.
