Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad and BRK Syariah Launch UMKM Margin‑Subsidy Program

On 19 May 2026, Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad and Acting Director Helwin Yunus of PT Bank Riau Kepri Syariah signed a joint agreement at the mayor’s office to provide a margin‑subsidy scheme for micro‑, small‑ and medium‑size enterprises (UMKM) in the city. The program aims to lower financing costs, expand credit access and stimulate local economic growth and job creation.

BRK Syariah reported that it has financed about Rp13.3 trillion for UMKMs nationwide, with Rp56 billion disbursed in Batam in 2025 and Rp16 billion up to April 2026. The mayor highlighted five key challenges for UMKMs—human‑resource quality, business management, product packaging, capital access and marketing—and said the subsidy will help address these gaps through collaboration between government, banks and entrepreneurs. Officials expect the initiative to boost competitiveness, accelerate financing and strengthen the resilience of Batam’s small‑business sector.
