Indonesia UMKM support initiatives
Overview
Indonesia’s micro, small and medium‑enterprise (UMKM) ecosystem continued to expand in July‑August 2026. Bank Mandiri pledged to open 3.5 million new accounts and extend Rp 40.99 trillion in credit, with a women‑focused programme supplying egg‑incubator kits to cooperatives in Central Java. PT Astra International’s empowerment project in Banyuwangi doubled dragon‑fruit output and enabled export, while Pertamina’s UMiMAX scheme helped unemployed workers launch coffee stalls.
The Ministry of Industry accelerated aid for 3,020 flood‑hit SMEs in Aceh and Sumatra, providing machinery, market access and technical guidance. Parliament’s Commission VII summoned TikTok Shop and other platforms over an estimated Rp 3 trillion of withheld UMKM sales proceeds, seeking stronger digital‑market regulation.
The Marine Ministry funded seaweed cultivation in Jepara and fisheries recovery in Aceh, and the new capital IKN highlighted UMKM integration into procurement, tourism and MICE development. Digital‑economy initiatives included university‑led website creation for a Gresik songkok maker and a nationwide cyber‑security talent programme.
Bank Aceh Syariah disbursed Rp 2.94 trillion in KUR loans to nearly 27,000 Aceh UMKM. The government reported Rp 65 trillion allocated to 14.9 million UMKM, cut loan rates to 8 %, and launched Integrated Business Service Centers for counseling and market access. Customs expanded assistance for tobacco producers and export‑oriented UMKM, while PKK‑run digital‑marketing training and e‑commerce fee discounts boosted online sales.
KDKMP village cooperatives were rolled out to over 140 sites, linking digital partners such as Tokopedia and TikTok Shop, and generating a surge in orders. Branding and circular‑economy workshops in Bali improved product quality and waste reuse. Finally, a new insurance ecosystem and a reduced trademark fee of Rp 500 000 were introduced to protect and formalise UMKM operations.
